Tharg boasts about the scrotnig new line-up and pimps Judge Dredd Megazine 340 which features part 1 of the comic sequel to Dredd (2012), Underbelly and the first episode of Ordinary which I previewed on 13th September.

Judge Dredd: New Tricks part1

Script: Michael Carroll
Art: Paul Davidson
Colours: Chris Blythe
Letters: Annie Parkhouse

Judge Caterina Tanechka Pax is back; last seen in Prog 1825. Interestingly her first appearance was in the Jump on Prog 1824, also penned by Michael Carroll. Also appearing in this story is Judge Fintan Joyce, son of Judge-Sergeant Charlie Joyce from Murphyville.

To replace lost Judges Mega City One is taking in recruits from allied cities. Pax defected after she met Dredd in Mega City 2. Joyce is a transfer in from Murphyville.

Judge Kilgore returns from her Long Walk in the Under City to report finding the location of the mythical Goblin King.

The story is told from the point of view of Judge Pax with her thoughts, perhaps journal entries, narrating the tale. This is visually interesting. The art is interesting with subtle tonal shifts to denote different locations.

A very interesting start.

Damnation Station: The Titanic Sails at Dawn part 1

Script: Al Ewing
Art: Mark Harrison
Letters: Simon Bowland

I have to admit I can’t remember much of the last outing of this strip…

So it is a case of me getting to know it again first. Sorry…

I do like the art, that I can say.

Flesh: Badlanders part 1

Writer: Pat Mills
Art: James McKay
Letters: Annie Parkhouse

This picks up pretty much where we left Flesh. Vegas Carver, daughter of the infamous Claw Carver, is leading her gang of Human/Dino pals, created due to time-travel-pollution as it were.

Vegas’s plan is to put the Trans-Time out of business.

The art is good but I don’t know… trying a bit too hard to look vintage? Something not working for me.

Brass Sun: Sláine: Book of Scars part 1

Script: Ian Edginton
Art: Inj Culbard
Letters: Ellie De Ville

Excellent re-introduction and new readers should be up to speed with what they need to know.

I really like the art on this one, especially the slightly otherworldly look to the characters.

Next Prog

Aquila returns.
