The annual Easter Jousting competition at Royal Armouries Leeds for the Queen’s Jubilee trophy has been announced.
Running the full bank holiday with two shows a day. Knights in armour will compete in the sport of kings, ‘The original extreme sport’.
This is the Joust of Peace, the object is to score points by striking the shield of your opponent, or if not the shield then the shield arm or torso.
You can read more about this sport elsewhere on my blog. Yes, sport. This isn’t scripted in any fashion, this is not choreographed, the outcome is not predetermined. This is a sport with real action and real results.
So far no news on who will be competing, I’ll bring news as I hear it.
I’ll be going, at least once each day. I’ll report on the action with a review of the jousts. This is a spectacle suitable for all ages.
