You can read my review of Issue 1.

Self publishing isn’t an easy task and for Sam Read it has been made more complicated by the success of his co-creators, There is a change of colourist between Issues 1 & 2 due to Ruth Redmond getting more work from Marvel UK.

Keep an eye on these names, there will be more from most of them in your LCS shortly.

There is lots of Sam Read in my LCS, he works in OK Comics. Check out his blog where he talks about Exit Generation, OK Comics and more.

Last issue saw the chosen of humanity leave the dying planet. Chaos must have ensued and I imagine many left behind died in the chaos. Twenty years later the story brought us Jack and Mo, two friends born after Exit.

Issue 1 ended with aliens visiting Earth and taking Mo’s parents, Jack’s foster family.

Mo and Jack hatch a crazy plan to rescue their family. They team up with Scrap, a junk dealer, and his ward Hanna, a pilot.

The action is split between Jack, Mo and friends and the kidnapped humans on the alien ship. We learn why the aliens have come, if you’ve read issue 1 you may well have guessed. We also learn m ore of what was left behind on Earth.

The script is unforced and fresh. At times there is a lot of dialogue and the artist handles this brilliantly leaving plenty of space for the letterer. The letterer in turn uses that space well, the first panel on page 9 is a great example of this, especially Jack’s speech bubble on that panel.

A very good (Sam) read.
