Reviewing this from my subscription copy

Tharg bigs up the line-up of current stories. Joining the three from last Prog are Ichabod Azrael (abbreviated title) and Greysuit. We get confirmation that this is planned to be the final outing for Ichabod. As these are both returning stories there is a recap but it is obviously quite brief.

A ‘New Thrill’ is announced. Orlock, Agent of East-Meg One: Eurozoned by Arthur Wyatt and Jake Lynch. This debuted in this year’s Sci Fi Special from the same team.

In this Prog

Judge Dredd: Block Judge part 2

Writer: John Wagner
Artist: Carlos Ezquerra
Letterer: Annie Parkhouse

More set up in this Prog, showing us details of some of the individuals who live in Gramercy Heights. Dredd and his team are making their presence felt. Meanwhile something is occurring on Level 66.

I’ve heard this is a long story, ten episodes perhaps. 7 pages of solid looking strip.

Stickleback: The Thru’penny Opera part 2

Writer: Ian Edgington
Artist: D’Israeli
Letterer: Ellie de Ville

Stickleback has words with Miss Scarlet drawing her back in to his team. We meet this London’s version of John Bull.

Nice bit of character interaction and a little exposition for new readers. The art is up to usual standards, anyone not familiar with this character might not recognise D’Israeli if they know him from elsewhere.

Greysuit: Prince of Darkness part 1

Writer: Pat Mills
Artist: John Higgins
Colours: Sally Hurst
Letterer: Ellie de Ville

A steady introductory episode for new readers. It’s been a while since this was last in the Prog so this will probably be useful for longer term readers also.

The Grievous Journey of Ichabod Azrael (and the dead he left in his wake): One Last Bullett part 1

Writer: Rob Williams
Artist: Mike Dowling
Letterer: Annie Parkhouse

I wrote an article about this story earlier this week.

I reviewed that from a Pdf. I must say Mike Dowling’s art is much better served on paper. It looked good digitally but the effects for the River Styx stands out more here.

The first two pages serve as a recap of the final action in the previous outing of Ichabod.

Kingdom: Aux Drift part 2

Writer: Dan Abnett
Artist: Richard Elson
Colourist: Abigail Ryder
Letterer: Simon Bowland

Gene The Hackman is joined in battle by his pack, Clara Bow and the others that joined him in Auxtralia (last story). Meleea informs Gene she isn’t a Master.

I really love this title and so far this story is shaping up well. If you haven’t read the earlier stories I recommend you pick up the trades. You can read my review of Kingdom: The Promised Land and a novel set in the same timeline, 100 years later, Fiefdom.

Next Prog

More from all five of the stories above. Looks like a rumble will occur in Judge Dredd & Kingdom.
