I wrote about this series before it started mostly because my friends from Atkinson Action Horses had supplied the horses, trainers, stunt riders and extras. One of their horses, Seamus, gets quite a lot of screen time as Ross Poldark’s horse.
I did the same with Jamaica Inn last year and spent half the time pointing at the screen naming the horses I could see. I keep getting distracted by the story with this series, not that I didn’t enjoy Jamaica Inn. Continue reading

Here’s the line-up for this Prog, this is a ‘Jump On’ point. All the stories are Part 1 of multipart stories and the balance is planned tyo help new readers have an ideal place to start reading 2000AD. Obviously it is also a good way for lapsed readers to slip in unnoticed.
Tharg obviously sings the praises of a ‘Jump On’ Prog and also points out that there are plenty of other great 2000AD products out there, including the Judge Dredd Mega Collection published in partnership with Hachette Partworks. Continue reading

Nick Percival was a Guest at the first Lawgiver convention in May 2014, he is in the centre on the picture heading this article, I don’t know who took the picture, I borrowed it from the write-up of the event on the Cellar of Dredd run by John Burdis who is one of our official uniformed Judges (attendees are encouraged to come in Judge Uniform or as Perps, Citizens if they want to dress for the occasion but it is optional).
I ran the panel that this photo was taken during, it was cunningly called ‘The How to Draw a Panel Panel’. All three artists, from left to right Pete Doherty, Nick & David Roach, will be at Lawgiver MkII.
Nick Percival is a professional artist and is known for not only his Judge Dredd work but also for various comics and as a concept artist. Many of his comic fans might not know that Nick is also a writer and CG Animation Director.
As promised I’m continuing to bring meet-ups of 2000A|D and/or Dredd fans around the country. I’ll mention International meet-ups too if I hear of them. If you run a meet-up, are planning on attending a meet-up or just know of one feel free to get in touch so I can help you Spread the Word (or Spread the Dredd).
The art headlining this article is from the recent Judge Dredd story Dark Justice that ran from the 100 page bumper issue Prog 2015 in December to the regular Prog 1921 last week (11 issues), story by John Wagner and art by Greg Staples.
There are three events that I am aware of at the moment, the soonest is TOMORROW, Saturday 14th March. Continue reading

Bad Company was created by Peter Milligan, Brett Ewins and Jim McCarthy and premiered in Prog 500 in December 1986. Based loosely on an idea from John Wagner and Alan Grant that was set aside Bad Company told the story of Danny Franks, an everyman entering the mad world of Kano and his unit of soldiers in their battle against their alien enemy, the Krool. I was alerted to its existence by the Jotar, an Argentine Comic Artist who is involved in the Daemonium web series – check out his Daemonium webcomic. Continue reading
