This is the first time a full series of a 2000AD story has premiered as a Digital Edition. This book is available world wide from 11th March 2015 on iOs and Android Aps as well as from the 2000AD Webshop in either CBZ or PDF format. 2000AD are dedicated to giving the best service they can with Digital comics, read more in am article I wrote in January about 2000AD’s expanding Digital Services

This is the full series, start to finish, in two books. Jack Dancer leads a motley crew through adventures in this world, the next and a few others in between and off to the side. The stories include Demons, Dieties, Sir Issac Newton and a two-headed dog called Erebus.

Full contents and credits follow a few preview pages below the review.

When I read the first episode of Red Seas in Prog 1313 it felt instantly like an old friend. Not that it copied anything else but it just felt like every pirate story I’d ever read or watched. Ian Edginton had distilled all that could be in a story about Pirates vs Evil and placed it in one container.

Of course this is the romantacised version of Pirates. Captain Jack Dancer and his crew only attack those that can defend themselves and keep deaths to a minimum. There may have been Pirates that acted this way but if so they were likely in the minority. Of course this kind of hero lends himself to tall tales indeed.

Battling the Devil himself and making friends with Lizardmen and Native Americans along the way this is nothingh but tall tales (mostly) on the high seas. There are hidden gems of detail that may tie in to other stories by Ian Edginton, such as Stickleback but no further knowledge is required to enjoy these books outside what they deliver to the reader.

Steve Yeuwell’s black and white art plays to the Boys Own style of storytelling while also bringing some depth to the otherworldy aspects. His ability to bring action together with characterisation is undoubted.
