This is an ongoing series following on from the hit miniseries by Montynero and Mike Dowling. Montynero put out a newsletter yesterday giving a bit more detail about the project.
Montynero has also written for Marvel on the X-Men Annual and Hulk Annual since publishing Death Sentence.
Mike is a busy artist these days with work in 2000AD and Judge Dredd Megazine s wasn’t available for the start of this series but it is planned that he’ll be on board later on. So Monty had to look for a new artist with big shoes to fall.
Monty found Martin Simmonds and the art is both in keeping with the original yet also with a flair of his own. With his own art skills, see covers A & C for proof, it is clear that Monty knows what he is looking for.
The miniseries told the story of three people coming to terms with contracting a terminal STD, G+ Virus. The virus had 100% death rate and a side effect was that any creative skils they possessed were amplified to an incredible level. They also developed super-powered abilities which grew more powerful as their condition progressed.
The story showed how the three young people dealt with their situation. In many ways this was a journey into life as much as it was about inevitable death.
If you haven’t read the original miniseries I suggest you catch up before June.
Now after a sell out miniseries, a well received collected volume and translated in to French Death Sentence has clearly made a good break in to comic reader’s imagination.
Of course an ongoing series lives or dies by its pre-sale orders. My advice is to get a pre-order in with your Local Comic Store (LCS) this month. Get your orders in April, it may seem odd to some people but the orders two month prior to Issue are often the main evidence on which decisions are made about publication. I’ve pre-ordered the series at my LCS, I enjoyed the miniseries so much.
The order codes are above in case your LCS are not sure about them. These are for Diamond, the major distributor in UK, Ireland and North America.
Release date is the same in all regions and digitally from Comicsy.
