Here’s the line-up for this Prog

1927 contents

Tharg bigs up the current line up. He also talks about Free Comic Book Day which takes place on the first Saturday of May each year, that is a date my family always look forward to. My Son, his Fiance and myself make a day of it. Morning going to the local comic stores to see what is up for grabs, a meal & this year off to see Avengers: Age of Ultron.

2000AD always put together a great Prog with reprints & original material. Take my advice, go get one!

Judge Dredd: Enceladus: New Life Part 4

Script: Rob Williams
Art: Henry Flint
Letters: Annie Parkhouse

Judge Dredd Created by John Wagner & Carlos Ezquerra
First Appearance – Prog 2

Kleggs aren’t always sensitive, actually only one is. So we know things aren’t going well for our old friend Aimee and her new pals. Ex-Chief Judge Sinfield and the other survivors of the Titan escape are running short of supplies.

Rob Williams sowed all the seeds for this story some time ago, whether he had this idea at the time or not I don’t know. Given how he worked with Si Spurrier and Al Ewing on Trifecta I wouldn’t be surprised if he has been playing the long game.

The art of Henry Flint is brilliant as always.

Orlok: Agent of East-Meg One The Rasputin Caper Part 4

Script: Arthur Wyatt
Art: Jake Lynch
Letters: Ellie De Ville

Orlok was created by John Wagner, Alan Grant & Steve Dillon
First appearance Prog 236

Orlok and his East-Meg Two colleague have teamed up in their search for the emigre, Jiri Rasputin. The plot has twists and turns and it is easy to keep tabs on when the action takes place, last Prog we saw Deputy Chief Judge Fish so we know this story is set around 2100 to 2101.

You can read more about Orlok in my article Who is Orlok?

Sláine The Brutania Chronicles Book 2: Primordial Part 4

Script: Pat Mills
Art: Simon Davis
Letters: Ellie De Ville

Sláine was created by Pat Mills & Angie Kincaid
First Appearance Prog 330

Having escaped the Drune Lords Slaine struggles to help Sinead. His old enemies are playing more mind games on him.

Sedentary plot shouldn’t be overlooked here I’m thinking.

Grey Area Locked In Part 1

Script: Dan Abnett
Art: Mark Harrison
Letters: Annie Parkhouse

Grey Area was created by Dan Abnett and Karl Richardson
First Appearance Prog 1764

Having been questioned and ignored by their hosts the team settle in to their new surroundings. Surroundings that are familiar yet from the other side of the fence. At least they understand how these places work.

Interesting turn of events from the Abnett droid.

Strontium Dog The Stix Fix Part 4

Script: John Wagner
Art: Carlos Ezquerra
Letters: Simon Bowland

Strontium Dog was created by John Wagner & Carlos Ezquerra
First Appearance Starlord Issue 1
First appearance in 2000AD Prog 86

This is just what Strontium Dog should be. A little bit more than tongue-in-cheek at times and down right mean to boot. The Stix family live on Freedonia, a free Mutant world. They’re almost all bad, several have been S/D agents. Most hate Johnny Alpha.

So if the plot is classic Strontium Dog what of the art? Carlos really doesn’t let up, this artwork would sit alongside his earlier work comfortably.

I think we get a mid season break in Enceladus, I may be wrong…
