Back when Steve MacManus was Editor I didn’t really take any interest in who was at the helm, I just read the comic.

MacMabnus was Editor of 2000AD from 1978 to 1987. He took over from Kelvin Gusnell to become the third Editor of ‘The Galaxy’s greatest comic’. After 2000AD’s creator, and first Editor, Pat Mills many see Steve MacManus as one of the most important people in 2000AD’s history.

Looking back at the period MacManus was in charge of 2000AD it must be aknowledged that much of the best of 2000AD took place. You can read a list of a few of the top Thrills he commissioned at the end of the article in a quote from the Press Release for this book.

2000AD is the most influential British Comic in history, the influence has reached further than the shores of Britain. Not simply the ‘British Invasion’ of talent that left 2000AD to work for DC or Marvel in the 1980s. It was the success of 2000AD that influenced DC’s Vertigo line. This is all due to 2000AD’s first ‘Golden Age’. the time that MacManus was at the helm.
