A Biopic about Ben Atkinson
by Michael Collin

Plus a link to Ben’s World Record attempt for Highest Jump while Roman Riding. BBC’s Officially Amazing Season 4 Episode 10.

I am a fan of Ben Atkinson and the stunt team he has helped his father, Mark Atkinson, build over the past few years. I’ve been lucky enough to get to know Ben, Mark and the team a little over the past three years, including doing a ‘Behind the Scenes’ article with them in 2013.

There are many articles on my Blog about Ben and Atkinson  Action Horses. You may have seen them in BBC’s Jamaica Inn or Poldark. Members of the team also appeared in BBC’s Merlin and HBO’s Game of Thrones. Continue reading

England Rugby Union – World Cup Woes

England RugbyEngland’s opening match against Fiji may not have seemed a good win to those unused to Rugby Nations. Fiji entered the tournament ranked 9th in World Rugby; England – 4th.

Granted England’s performance might not threaten the Southern Hemisphere power houses; New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.

South Africa have dropped in standings from 3rd to 6th after defeat by Japan, boosting England, Wales and Ireland.

The Webb Ellis Trophy Tour – Prelude to the Rugby Union World Cup

The Webb Ellis Trophy, the Rugby Union World Cup is currently touring the UK so that members of the public can get a close look at it prior to the World Cup staring in September.

I took this picture on Saturday 8th August when the cup visited Leeds Dock.

I am a citizen of Leeds and I am in that area of Leeds fairly regularly. You will find a lot of articles on this blog about Royal Armouries and events I have attended there. Leeds Dock also host many events throughout the year, such as Easter Market.

Leeds Dock also hosts Thought Bubble, the UK’s largest Comic Convention (anything of similar or larger size in the UK is billed as FILM and Comic, often with Film dominating the Comics).

I don’t write about Sport often but I decided this year to do a few articles that are Sport related. I only write about things I enjoy, so there won’rt be any Football on here…

Rugby League is my first-love but I do really enjoy watching Rugby Union. So a chance to see the Webb Ellis Trophy up close was something I wasn’t passing up. Continue reading
