The original Misty ran for 101 issues between February 1978 and January 1980.

Misty merged with sister title Tammy (February 1971 – June 1984) which was renamed Tammy and Misty until September 1981.

Both titles were weekly and aimed at girls. Misty was Horror and suspense theme while Tammy was more general interest.

Girls comics were hot property in that era with Tammy outselling 2000AD at points.

Rebellion have published 3 volumes of reprints, an annual and all new Specials. You can see the full range here.

This special is all new material. Full list of stories and 4 preview pages are at the end of the article.

Misty was aimed at girls as I said above. Other comics were aimed at boys. In the main this formula was used for comics aimed for children aged around 9 and up.

Of course there’s no reason boys couldn’t read Misty or girls read Battle Action. And no reason that division is needed now.

Probably what is till needed is the message that comics are for all. And there are conics out there for all tastes.

Gail Simmone is one of the female comic creators who have faced quite stark reactions from people upset about gender equality.

Frankly I happily read comics aimed at audiences that aren’t straight white guys in their 50s, such as myself. Variety is great.

Thec original Misty was the idea of Pat Mills and the first Editor of Tammy was Gerry Finley Day. Creators were needed included male and female creators.

Rebellion have a good track record of Bringing new talent to Britsh Comics. They continue that with Writer/Artist Letty Wilson.
