Royal Armouries have been running an event like this for quite some time. It is now a regular feature of August, falling within the long school holiday of course. In 2013 it fell on 4th to 6th of May, the opening weekend of Ironman 3 – you can read my write up of that event.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAYou’ll note Ironman features on the official image from Royal Armouries at the head of this article. They have a full size replica built by Mark Pearson for the Armouries. Mark is pictured on the right here with the suit. On the left is Adi Granov who designed the suits for all three Ironman films, as well as the Chitauri for the first Avengers film.

Adi attended this even in 2014 and was interviewed by artist Peter Doherty about his work with Marvel in comics, film and beyond. Peter is a regular participant at this event.

It can’t always be predicted what will go on at this event below are a few ideas Continue reading

Update on the RPG Project in Uganda

Koro has gone wild.jpgIn March I wrote about a cool set up that a young man in Uganda.

Patrick had started where he is encouraging other youngsters to develop their imaginations and team working through Pathfinder – the love-child of Dungeons & Dragons that is published by Paizo.

So far there are from what I understand three or four tabletop groups playing Pathfinder. This is Patrick’s project as part of the Butterfly Project, a scheme to encourage children in rural Uganda to become leaders by example. The Butterfly Project is supported by the UK Charity Chrysalis Youth Empowerment Network (CYEN).

Now Patrick has started on a bigger and bolder version of his project and needs a bit of help. Continue reading

There were Gatka demonstrations on several days over the week. I attended two, one on Tuesday and another on Saturday. There are embedded videos of part of the Gatka demonstrations in this article.

2000AD return to FCBD 2016

FCBD2016Last Month the news broke that 2000AD had been refused entry in to Free Comic Book Day for 2016. This was quite a shock given that 2000AD is the UK’s most influential comic

Today I received a Press Release from Rebellion confirming that 2000AD had now been confirmed as part of next year’s FCBD event. Welcome news to many I am sure.

Free Comic Book Day is an annual event that started in USA and has grown to take place in a number of countries including UK and Australia.

Major publishers such as the ‘Big Two’, DC and Marvel, take part as do many smaller publishers. Most of the companies involved are based in North America still but Rebellion have been involved for the past four years. Continue reading
