This series was originally announced some time ago and I wrote about it on 11th December. I wrote a preview of the first issue, America. Here’s more detail on issue 2.

This series is scheduled to run for eighty issues with each book approximately 200 pages of reprinted material from 2000AD or Judge Dredd Megazine. Instead of reprinting the stories in order each book is themed. Issue 2 deals with Judge Dredd’s answer to RoboCop – which itself was of course based on Judge Dredd. There are spoilers below, I consider them to be mild as these are reprints, the preview pages are after the list of contents.

A TV campaign starting 20th January 2015, oddly I’ve yet to see it on TV.

Published in the second volume of Judge Dredd Megazine, 3rd October, 1992 Mechanismo introduces mechanised units that were designed to support Judges on the streets of Mega City One.

Dredd of course doesn’t likre the idea, there is history of issues with Robots after all. The Robot War led by Call Me Kenneth and the lefgions of robots in the Cursed Earth led by General Blood n Guts, left over from the war between the Judges and President Booth.

Despite being considered by many as unfeeling, Dredd is of the firm belief that a human is required to give balance to the Law. And as Robo Cop was based on Judge Dredd that is perhaps a little ironic.

Mechanismo were invented by Tech Judge Stich under Chief Judge McGrudder. Things obviously don’t go as planned, after all there are no Mehanismo units on the streets of Mega City One currently, though Brit-Cit did lend some of theirs to help with the clean up after Chaos Day.

There are two further stories in this book featuring Mechanismo. The last two stories don’t deal with Robot Judges but do have Robots.
